I'm an elder warrior. Look at my face, there's 

nothing hidden. These eyes have witnessed the

fiercest battles and brought the memory home.

I've stood in that place where death presses in from one side while life is squeezed out the other.

You hear every sound, you can smell the blood and vomit, you hear men die in agony and see others piss themselves. Finish them swiftly so their mothers will forgive you.

Your senses possess all of life in these moments of fury so marvel in the bloody madness. If you're lucky and you live, then seek the tenderness of a woman to free your suffering. Leave your defences on the battlefield and let her heal your soul. Soon the scourge of war will steal her scent but she forever remains your last vision of beauty.

Death is never far away so nothing is lost by the warrior who dedicates themselves to those younger, shape the child, shape the world.
